Concepts

This lab uses a Web Function
Lambda compute type that runs a standard Node.js HTTP server listening on a port, with a built-in HTTPS endpoint and multi-concurrency per environment.
.

TypeUse when
Web FunctionHTTP — Express, Hono, SSR, streaming
Event FunctionEvents — SQS, S3, EventBridge, streams
MicroVMsUntrusted or isolated sandbox workloads

A Web Function has revisions and endpoints:

  • Web Function
Lambda compute type that runs a standard Node.js HTTP server listening on a port, with a built-in HTTPS endpoint and multi-concurrency per environment.
    wf-hello — the resource
  • Revision
Immutable snapshot of Web Function code and configuration. Progresses Pending → Active independently of the endpoint.
    — immutable code + config (Pending → Active)
  • Endpoint
HTTPS entry point for a Web Function. Has a domain, auth type, and routes traffic to one or two revisions. Types include HomeRegion, MultiRegion, and PerRegion.
dev — HTTPS URL that routes to an Active revision

Traffic only when the endpoint and the revision are both Active.

No API Gateway adapter. Each environment serves many concurrent requests. maxConcurrencyPerEnvironment (revision setting) bounds concurrency — range 1–128, default 64. See Scaling behavior for Lambda Web Functions.
